Rare large 4.49ct Mahenge Garnet precision cut by Gene Flanigan at Precision Gem this summer. I snapped this beauty as soon as it came up and it has been sitting in a box ever since. My interests have taken a different path and it's only fair for this beauty to be set and adored. The first image is vendor's picture; the rest are mine. Gene's description: A rare larger Mahenge Garnet. The production of these stones is over, and stones over 3 carats are very hard to find. This one measures 9.612 mm and is cut in my custom round design, made especially for garnets. Color: 9/10 Clarity: 9/10 Brilliance: 5/5 TQR: 9.3 There's a small natural that didn't cut out along the girdle line. Gene confirmed that it has no effect on the integrity of the stone. This is a glowy light-medium Colombian emerald originally listed on MasterCut Gems’ website (see screenshot of their listing, the photos are accurate). Very clean, glowing green in all lights, and good cutting. There is a small nick on the bottom of the pavilion but it won't be noticeable after it’s been set and you have to look hard for it in any case. (I'm just pointing it out because I noticed it there when I got to it.) Very sparkly teal blue round indicolite tourmaline I got from LT, originally from Yvonne Raley. Very clean, bright, and crisp cutting! It’s a bright, hot pink with almost purple undertones that are most visible in the starburst arms. Totally gorgeous! If you look closely you can see that the corners are pointy rather than rounded like traditional cushions. It’s a beautiful effect. Notes on the photos: I found this stone hard to photograph. The tourmaline does not have a window--you see a normal “tilt window” in the first photo. The hand shot shows it more peachy than it actually is; I see pink/purple rather than peach. The first three photos are the best representation of the actual color, at least on my monitor. The last photo is taken in low light--I need a light box!--but gives a good sense of the starburst cutting. Though I have not been active recently, I’m DecoDaze on PS and have done several successful transactions with other PS members.
