I cut this stone many years ago when I was first developing my technique for ultra high domed cabs. It is a slightly grayish green color with extreme translucency and just enough silkiness to form a modest cat's eye in bright single point light. This gem measures 13.2mm x 9.3mm x 7.3mm deep. A very cool piece for someone with a taste for the unusual.

This sapphire is an unheated stone which I removed from and old setting years ago and recently re-cut in a precision, Barion style oval cut. It measures 8.3mm x 5.9mm x 4.4mm deep. It is eye clean, though would grade SI1 as it has a very small fingerprint type inclusion that can be seen with a 10X loupe. The color is distinctly blue, though pale and the stone is VERY bright. I purchased this garnet for $289, a few years back, and set it in a 14K gold head. I put a chain through the head and wore it as a slider pendant. I like the look, very sparkly, with diamond-like rainbow sparkles, but I haven't worn it in a long time. It's 7.4 mm x 4.9 mm (big!), 1.89 carat, from Mali. Mali garnets were a huge hit on Pricescope a few years back, because of their diamond-like refraction. This one has a lot of rainbow diamond-type flashes, because it's a very good cut. It's a light yellowish green, and shifts to more like a fancy yellow diamond in fluorescent light. I think a good bench jeweler can open the prongs, solder the head to a band, and you'd have a fairly simple ring. Last photo is how I used to wear it, just slid onto a chain. It doesn't flip over.
