This is one of the most beautiful Edwardian or Art Deco settings I've had the pleasure of wearing: it's in absolutely mint condition, with perfect milgrain, piercing, wheat engraving, prongs ... the works! The design is really wonderful: although it holds a 6mm stone, it faces up as *much* larger, first because of the fishtail prongs, next because of the well-cut 7mm square box setting, and finally because of the delicately rounded gallery. On the hand, it has the visual effect of a diamond weighing a carat and a half. Currently a size 7, this ring could easily be sized up or down.
It is set with an Old European cut moissanite of 6mm, equivalent to a diamond weighing .75tcw: in color, it is similar to a J-colored diamond, in clarity, equivalent to a VS1. Moissanite is its own stone, but as a fairly fresh entrant to the market, it's easiest to describe it in the terms of the stone it most closely resembles. The one big difference? The FIRE - OEC moissanites have tremendous fire, giving them a very appealing appearance.
This would make an amazing engagement ring ... or anniversary ring ... or for that matter, any kind of ring at all! As always, please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions, or if you would like to see any additional images.
