I'm parting with some more spinels this evening (sniff, sniff) and the the first one is a blackish/greyish/purplish cushion cut spinel. The color description is weird but when I purchased it was sold to me as a light black/smoky gray, which it is, but in some lighting it can look light charcoal, a grapeish purple or a silvery gray color. An unusual cut a pear shaped checkerboard cut green tourmaline. The checkerboard pattern is the same on both sides so there is no culet so to speak.
