Hallmarked 14K, this pretty pair was purchased at an antique shop in NYC for the sheer sentimentality of it, way before I met my husband. Of course, it was as far off from his style as is humanly imaginable, so I should conquer my hoarding tendencies and pass the pretty along to somebody who can use it!
The lady’s band is in great condition. It’s a little over a size 6. The niello is dark, and the engraving is crisp. It has some signs of wear at the back of the band, as one might expect from an antique, but it could very easily be polished up by a good jeweler.
The man’s band is a size 9.5. It’s in somewhat worse condition than the woman’s ring – looks like the male half of the pair may have worked with his hands, as the niello is a little faded and the back of the band is almost hammer-finished - but it could also be polished by a jeweler easily. It is 6.75 mm at the front, and tapers to 3.7 mm at the back.
I love these for their history – not many wedding sets have stayed together. It’d be cool to give them a new life together, no?
