1.48 ct Grossular Garnet cut by Gary Braun of finewater Gems. I bought this lovely mint 4 years ago. This color is getting much tougher to find. From the original listing: My broker in Kenya found me a slightly yellowish-green grossular garnet that I've cut into a classic oval Barion design. The name grossular is derived from the botanical name for the gooseberry, which is similar in color (I know this for a fact - we had them on my parent's farm!). Typical of many grossular garnets from this region, it fluoresces orange under UV light (especially the 405nm wavelength). Platinum Ritani engagement ring setting for aproximately 8mm round with a row of micropavé diamonds set down the shank and around the basket. The setting is Ritani 1RZ1966 and marked "Ritani PT 950". The total carat weight is 0.20 and diamonds are stated (by Ritani) to be G/H color and VS quality. The ring is a size 5 eternity band with just once tiny bead space at the bottom of the shank, hence cannot be resized. The gram weight is 4.96. The mounting had a 2.11 ct center stone originally. Pictures show it with an 8.8mm stone setting in it. The retail price was $3550.00. The ring is in used condition with slight wear but is in good shape. This is a beautiful truly antique engagement ring. It is made in an old style where people upgraded their original wedding bands to add diamonds and white metal to keep up with the fashion and upgrade. The base ring is 14 karat yellow gold and the diamond and trilliant lab sapphires are set in platinum with a delicate millgrain. The diamond is roughly half a carat and 5 mm. The center stone is eye clean and roughly an O-P champagne color. I feel the pictures make it look whiter than it truly is. It is a glorious cut though and absolutely a great vintage find. A lovely pair of 1.15CTW Old European Cuts. I've thought about upgrading my studs to the carat plus zone a few times and always wimp out because I love my current ones. The diamond on the left is GIA 2141510276 .55 K VS1 4.94x5.12x3.35mm. The diamond on the right is uncerted .60 5.18x5.23x3.48mm estimated M SI2 (eyeclean to me) that has a few crystals and a tiny natural or chip. This band has 11 high quality diamonds in a shared prong setting. The diamonds measure 1.85-1.9mm and the shank goes from 1.86 mm down to 1.65 mm. The quality of the diamonds is spectacular which my camera phone couldn't show. They are icy white and clean with tiny arrows visible and look incredible. I suspect this band is 18k yellow gold that has been rhodium plated because it has a lot of warmth showing through in areas. Size 6.5. Marked 18k and D0.30. No maker's mark. Sale's final. This is a beautiful band with approximately .30ctw high quality diamonds set in hexagon bezels with tiny millgrain. It's not in perfect shape and that's reflected in the price. There's some wear to the millgrain and it has about three repair spots, once where it was sized, and two where it looks like diamonds were replaced. Still, it's beautiful. I'm not the original buyer so I'm not sure but I think this may be the very pricey Beverley K band pictured.
