Gorgeous ring , top quality craftsmanship , solid and heavy platinum with an 18k yg cup and tapered prongs, decorative gallery under the diamond halo. There are 76 RB cut diamonds, ranging from .002 - .02 and F-G color ,VS2 clarity. Originally held a yellow diamond of 12.88 x 9.05 x 5.53 mm. Size 5.5 with sizing beads, 5.75 if beads are removed and further sizeable within reason. Because there is a gold cup, this setting would be perfect for a warmer color ( M-Z ) white or light yellow diamond. MSRP for the setting, not including the earth mined Sunstone, was $5700 9 years ago, platinum and gold have both skyrocketed in price since then. This brooch was one of the first pieces I ever bought on eBay, back when it was fun to shop there. I was told that it was WWII vintage. It was given as a thank you to the person who taught English to a Japanese lady while both were in Hawaii. The metal is not marked but it has a lovely patina and appears to be sterling.
