There are many hummingbird style rings but few are done with as much detail as can be found in this ring. The hummingbird is in different colours to showcase the hand-carved feathers. The flowers have yellow gold centers and rose gold 'petals' and the leaves have veins carved into them. It really is a spectacular example of its type. The ring is made more special by the fact that it is comprised of Black Hills gold. The ring looks brand new and is a size 10.25, weighing in at 2.6 grams. The ring is sizeable. They appear to be handmade, because there is a near-identical divot in the back of each earring (please see photos) that looks like an artifact of someone who is new to making jewelry (like the maker wasn't sure how to fully close the silver oval - the pictures help this description make sense). The settings are heavy; there is a decent amount of silver in these. The ear hooks are original, and are heavy themselves. They have a neat kind of flourish to them. The amethyst stones are a light apple-green (the photos show them looking greyish, which they aren't in person). Until I cleaned these, I thought they were dirty CZ! When they were clean, they turned into a nice pale apple green. I took them to the jeweler because I thought they might be pale green amethyst and he confirmed this, so that's a nice surprise. :) There are a few tiny pits in the earring settings that have been there ever since I can remember, and the front of one amethyst has some very fine scratches (not noticeable when worn, thankfully). The jeweler thought they were probably amethysts but I forgot to have him examine them more closely; since I cannot say with 100% certainty that they are amethysts, I must mention that there is a remote possibility of their being purple CZs. The amethysts are a medium colour with great clarity; they look a little darker than they really are in the photos. They reflect light well and are quite a lovely purple. It appears they were hand-cut as the facets on the stones are not symmetrical. The silver wires that wrap the point of each briolette and connect it to its leverback are slightly tarnished, as shown in photos (they look pale gold); I am happy to clean this if requested, or I could leave it as "patina." The detailing is incredible and the ring is very well-made; my jeweler was impressed by the craftsmanship. The ring is in like-new/excellent vintage condition and is a size 7.75. I would guess this ring is not sizeable due to the intricate design but it's worth checking with your jeweler. It fits smoothly on the finger as there is a sort of 'guard' that faces the back of the peacock design, so there are no sharp prongs to poke one's finger. This ring is truly fabulous. The yellow diamond is 3.53mm, making it about .17cts, & each white side diamond is 1.4mm, which is somewhere between .01 & .015cts each. The total diamond weight is .2cts. The yellow diamond is that perfect canary yellow and has a great deal of sparkle. It performs brilliantly for its size. The white diamonds glint nicely and all three diamonds throw off plenty of light in both bright & dim lighting conditions. They may be diminutive but they are high quality stones. All three of them are eye clean. It is a finely made piece and would make a stunning and unusual engagement or anniversary ring. The ring features a great deal of hand engraving and the setting and band are richly detailed. Surprisingly, given its age, it looks brand new; it is in excellent condition, with only a couple of very faint scratches on the back of the band. The only hint at its age is the back of the band being slightly warped. It does not affect how the ring sits or feels at all and is not noticeable whatsoever from the front or sides.
