1.10ct E VS1 AV OMC + 1.48tcw Red Spinel in 18k YG
*** the video tells a better story than the photos!
Sadly, my SO has never actually worn this ring outside of the house.
While she absolutely loves it on its own, she has reluctantly come to terms with the fact that it doesn’t play well with the rest of her (more modern) look.
We are toying with the idea of converting it into a pendant, but decided to see if any of our PS & LT friends might be interested before we put any more work (and $$$) into it.
It was crafted by an Armenian goldsmith and the workmanship is top-notch. The ideal diamond optics and icy-white color are a constant fireworks show and the clean, saturated, beautifully cut red spinels sparkle like mad.
Here are the stats:
- 1.10 E VS1 August Vintage Old Mine Cushion (LGD) 6.36x6.33x4.09mm with GIA report. https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=6227965014
- 1.48tcw Natural, untreated Royal Red Spinel (10 x 3mm diamond-cut rounds)
- 18k yellow gold
- Size 7 (totally sizable)
- No signs of wear

The certificate clearly states that this stone meet's AIGS strict criteria for the "Jedi" designation. They only note the origin as “Myanmar."
I do not have any knowledge of which mine it originated from. I do know that this is not typical Mogok color and that it does not have the sulfer inclusions common to (but not ubiquitous in) Mansin material. Someone asked if it could it be Namya, but I would have no way of confirming it if it were. In the end, all we really know is that this is a Jedi Spinel from Burma.
What we do know is that it has undeniably vivid color, very strong fluorescence and amazingly effective cutting. The brilliance, light return and play of light is just astounding. This one really dances…and it’s over 2ct.
So yes, this is a very rare find.
It has a number of transparent inclusions (bubbles, appetite crystals and a feather under the table)that are not visible under normal viewing conditions.
The inclusions are easiest to detect when a light source illuminates the gem from the side or from behind - conditions that would be all but eliminated once set.
This one was $2675/ct ($5698.50 for the stone)
I’ve reduced it to 2.13ct @ $2300/ct = $4899 (shipped with AIGS certificate) in hope of a quick sale. I cannot go lower than this as I am already selling at a loss.
Scan the QR code to verify the certificate and see a horrendous video of the stone from AIGS.

***The 2.47 red spinel is currently out getting a GIT certificate and *may* become available for sale. It is a very rare, pure stoplight red with no significant modifiers (and still fluoresces). The photo and videos skew it a little orange, but that is not the case in real life. This may be the purest red I've seen in over 25 years of hunting for spinal across the globe - and it has a nice, glassy body that is 100% eye clean. The other stone I have listed is a super clean 1.24ct red spinel from Vietnam. It was sold to me as pinkish red, but I don’t see any pink at all. It looks like a very open, medium-toned red with maybe a tiny hint of orange to my eye. It has strong red fluorescence and remarkable crystal.
I believe this color is often referred to as “flame spinel”
https://imgur.com/a/VO803KV
This one is $1000/ct ($1240 for the stone) and measures 6.43x4.94x4.50mm
It is not certified, but I could have it certified I f you would like.
I don’t have any photos or videos in natural light just yet, but I’ll try to get some up as soon as the weather cooperates. It’s been pretty rainy lately.
Feel free to ask any questions you like on it either of these stones.

I absolutely love this ring! The Center stone is an utterly electric unheated, violet sapphire weighing 1.56ct in a perfectly executed emerald cut. Excellent clarity, vivid UV fluorescence and no treatments! It is set in 10.90 g of 18k palladium white gold (so no need to worry about nickel allergies!) and crafted by an Armenian goldsmith with incredible, crisp geometric lines and a deeply brushed finish that will age like an old pair of blue jeans. The stone is accented by 2 small step cut trapezoid lab grown diamonds.
It’s an elegant design with spectacular craftsmanship… But I just don’t wear it very often. Honestly, I have way too many rings. lol!
I’m letting Consider considerably less than what I paid. Hoping it finds a good home.
I’m also open to selling the stone loose if I can fetch a reasonable price for it. It comes with a GIT mini certificate certifying that it is both natural and unheated.

It is used, but exceptionally well cared for and shows no signs of wear. I just had the black ruthenium re-plated and the finish is perfect- and more black than the photo.

Beautifully matched set of well-cut, clean round Teal-Gray Spinel set in basic Stuller Platinum settings. I have well over $1000 invested in the earring & pendant set and I'm asking $500 for it.
https://imgur.com/a/cITpgYx
https://imgur.com/a/V3H62tm
The earrings are just over 1ct each and the pendant is just over 2ct (I forget the precise weights).
The diamond-cut 18k palladium white gold chain from Italy and the rest of the settings are all coated in black rhodium, beautifully complimenting the spinel's color.
It is set up as a 14 3/8" choker-style to sit right at the pit of the throat.
The earring posts have very slight bends in them (as is typical for used earrings) but they are perfectly functional and there are no other signs of obvious wear.
The ring is also a 1ct round with slightly more intense teal color but still a good match.
It is a custom design cast in platinum with a black rhodium finish. This has some minor scratches on the shank from wear, but nothing obvious. It is currently a size 51 (US 5.5). I have over $500 in the ring. I am asking $300.

The sapphire is a 1.18ct heated (uncertified), beautiful cornflower blue emerald-cut from Sri Lanka. It faces up at 6.78x5.28mm (I can't measure the depth because of the setting) and is quite clean, save one eye-visible inclusion that is currently covered by a prong. The trillion diamonds are NATURAL F color VS+ and weigh (I believe) 0.20tcw. The baguettes are lab-grown diamond.
https://imgur.com/a/1-18ct-cornflower-blue-sapphire-ring-td6bVJT
The setting is from Stuller and is made of their "continuum silver" (harder and more tarnish-resistant) and it is rhodium-plated.
It was originally a size 6 but re-sized to a 5. Due to the shape of the head, the shank is not perfectly round after the resize.
Regardless, the sapphire and natural diamond trillions alone are worth more than the $650 price tag - and you'll get a couple of LGDs and the setting for free.
Feel free to reach out with any questions or requests for additional photos & videos.

AIGS called this a “Vivid pink Red Ruby” with indications of heating. To me, it’s a vivid pink sapphire, but who am I to question the lab? It’s a Burmese origin, that was not requested on the certificate.
Since it was certified, I re-cut it from a windowed 1.01ct oval to 0.63ct round. It’s not a high value stone, so I didn’t bother to get it recertified.

***This is considered "Trade Ideal" color.
This is 0.92ct Thai ruby with the most wonderful wonky cutting that performs absolutely beautifully! It faces up much larger than your average 1ct oval (6.29x5.47x3.42) and yet has full brilliance and ZERO window. I don't know how it happened, but the cutter clearly knew what s/he was doing! It has beautiful crystal and is as red as red gets. This is true Pigeon Blood color (termed Vivid Red per the AIGS certificate). The certificate (from 2018) did not request origin, but one of the instructors at GIA Bangkok positively identified it as Thai origin, heated with minor borax residue per inculsions similar to the attached photo.
Fluorescence is moderate (typical for Thai ruby), there is a cavity on the pavilion which is not visible face-up and the color is red, Red, RED! A remarkable stone that I DO NOT want to sell, but I'm feeling a bit *motivated* between taxes & a recent purchase.
Price is firm at $1800 (was $2100) with AIGS certificate and global FedEx shipping.

It performs well under any light conditions and never goes dark!
There’s also a thing about Sapphires, where, the closer you are to the equator, the lighter they become, and the farther away from the equator to the darker and richer they become.
My photos and videos were taken in Bangkok under very strong lighting conditions. I am also including an unedited photo of the stone when it was set in a CVB ring And photographed in northern California.
Comes with a Lotus Gold certificate and has been freshly polished. The Cutter did an amazing job at restoring a perfect finish and only lost 0.01 points!
I came up with this asking price based on the recent tradeshow in Bangkok where Sapphires in this size and color are going for $3500 per carat.
Price is negotiable!

FROM THE ORIGINAL LT LISTING:
“Custom CvB Sierra ring in 18k yellow gold, size 5.0 (currently with sizing beads that take it down to a 3.5 on the mandrel).
Features a 3.60ct unheated cornflower blue cushion sapphire and GIA certified natural (genuine antique) old mine cut diamonds (.54 and .52 each G/VS2) purchased from August Vintage. Such a breathtaking statement piece! Sapphire ring was appraised at $29,500 in 2021. This ring has incredible finger coverage and absolutely glows!”
Photos are also from the original listing. Please see my other listing for the loose stone to see what it looks like in Bangkok. There is a thing about Sapphires, where they appear lighter as you move towards the equator and darker as you move towards more distant latitudes. As a result, many people buy Sapphires in Bangkok only to find that they are too dark when they get home. I suspect something like this is happening with this sapphire as the original listing photos and CVB’s photos show a deeper color than the ones that I took.
Please note that the ring is in a brushed finish and the original CVB photo on Instagram was taken before that finish was applied.
Ships worldwide via FedEx.
The stone currently has a lotus gold certificate. I encourage you to look at my other listing for the loose stone for more details.

Everything about the stone is perfect except the clarity...and even that is pretty darn good. There is the tiniest chip near one of the prongs, 2 bubbles under the table and a small linear inclusion under the crown. 95+% of the time it is totally eye-clean. In the horizontal position, when the light hit it just right just right, those inclusions occasionally catch the light and become eye-visible. That's part of why I set it as a pendant. In the vertical position, the imperfections are never visible.
The color and cutting are so good however, it makes the stone totally worth it IMO. It is not certified, but I guarantee Lotus would give it a designation of "Intense Cornflower Blue" (Cornflower blue with Intense saturation) - which is about the most desirable color you can find IMO. Certification would take about a week +/- and costs around $120. The cutting is just exceptional with a nice puffy crown and amazing brilliance as well.
So, in the end, I suppose it boils down to how important it is to you that it is 100% eye-clean in the horizontal position. If you were to set it in a ring, you'd almost never see the inclusions, but there might be a few occasions where they could catch your eye. The imperfections keep the price down as well. If it were perfectly clean, this would easily be $2500/ct.
I captured the inclusions with my loupe + camera so you can see precisely what I'm referring to:

Old stock, Kenya Tsavorite. The oval is 1.33ct and loupe clean. Super brilliant and 100% TOP, TOP , TOP color with a hint of blue. Much better than the photos or videos. The color seems to confuse the sensors on my camera.
The small rounds are 4.5mm were cut by Sako’s Dad (Vartan, aka The Gem Doctor") as OECs and weigh 1.08tcw
The diamonds are genuine antiques, colorless and 3.25mm (0.20tcw)
This was meant for a project that I had to pull due to my economic circumstances. The whole suite is awesome. Great for an antique-inspire project. I have CADs if it interests you.

One of my Sri Lankan friends gave me a heads up on a "special color" and "unusually vibrant" ~2.5ct sapphire.
It was uncertified, but we knew it was natural and unheated. The origin was a mystery however.
The color was crazy though. We agreed that it didn't look like a typical Sri Lankan, Madagascar, Winza or Burmese Pink. We were stumped.
Whatever. The color is amazing, so I snapped it up.
We sent it to the lab and, to both of our surprise, it came back as Tanzania. Suddenly it dawned on me: it reminds me of Mahenge Spinel.
It would make sense since spinel and sapphire typically co-occur in the same mine. I've just never heard of such a beast. This color is just mind blowing. It’s not like any pink I’ve ever seen before…and the fluorescence is simply off-the-charts! It’s one of my all-time favorite stones.
Not excited about parting with it, but I need to fund the clinic more than I need gems right now.
