A stunning 19th century 18ct gold snake ring!! The diamond is chunky and sparkling, very nice presence on the hand! It has an open back setting, very good condition but there are some minor signs of wear and patina especially in areas where the gold is soldered together.
The head of the snake is set with an old cut diamond and a turquoise cabochon.
Two distinct snakes entwine in this ring - a symbol of union and love.
Originally set with a damaged garnet and the the broken stone was replaced with a beautiful blue turquoise cabochon to create a contemporary look.
US size 8 1/4
Approximately 6.5 grams of gold. The old cut diamond weighs approximately 0.45cts.
Stamped and tested as 18ct gold.
Nice clean condition - the diamond has a tiny chip at the tip of the pear....I’ve never noticed this with my naked eye. The old cut diamond is nice and clean and sparkles beautifully!! Evidence of resizing to rear of the band.
