This is a Stunning antique Art Deco platinum ring setting! It is absolutely beautiful with 3 small diamonds in each corner of the gallery, 12 small diamonds total, and 2 beautiful French cut sapphires on each end, 8 sapphires total. The setting is decorated with beautiful engravings and wheat cutouts in the gallery. It has ribbon style prongs. It is meant to hold a stone 7.5 to 8 mm... I recently had an old mine that was just over 8mm but I felt it was too chunky and too tall of a crown to fit properly. I’m not an expert but I think a stone between 7.5 and 8mm would fit best, something like and oec, transitional or modern cut round stone. Right now it is just under a size 8, can be sized within reason. It is heavy and solid platinum. I don’t know the weight but I’d estimate it is around 4 grams give or take... just comparing to my other pieces. It does have some wear and past repairs, there are some tiny splits through the gallery and under on the shank. I purchased the setting from Jewels by Grace which is a reputable antique jewelry site, and the setting was described as in very good condition so I do not think there are any major issues other than the normal wear due to age. It may need some repairs or touch ups though. It’s really quite gorgeous, I just don’t think my diamond fits the setting properly.
