This stunner is classic high Art Deco...with fiery old European cut diamonds in a stylized geometric design with tons of period detail...since it arrived to me as a brooch with broken pin mechanism, it's perfect to be converted into a pendant necklace. (price includes conversion with chain described below...or have your jeweler convert into a big statement ring!)
-Crafted of solid white gold that tests between 14K and 15K for me, the pendant features a total of 26 chunky old cut diamonds, including 24 old European cut diamonds. Open work and crisp milgrain adds wonderful detail work to these fiery diamonds. The total estimated carat weight is approximately 1.42 carats.
-Set to the upper center of the pendant is a bright and extremely fiery old European cut diamond in a milgrain-edged bezel. Measuring approximately 5 mm in diameter, I would estimate this chunky old diamond to weigh approximately .50 carat, or so. It's color and clarity are very good, with color I would judge to be in the H-I range of near-colorless. It's completely eye-clean and is also beautifully clean under magnification. In wonderful original condition, I see no nicks, chips or scratches to this fine old diamond. The milgrain on it's bezel and the outer border around the pierced work is still very crisp.
-Five more old European cut diamonds are bead-set to either side of the central diamond, in milgrain edged settings, with another set in a half-marquise shaped setting beneath. (again with milgrain edging.) Measuring approximately 2 to 2.3 mm in diameter, I would estimate these diamonds to have a total carat weight of approximately .40 carats. (perhaps slightly more given their chunky old cuts.) Bright and super fiery, I would judge their color to be in the G-H-I range of near-colorless. They, too, are completely eye-clean and also beautiful under magnification. (not just clean but really nicely proportioned with nice facet patterns) In wonderful condition, I see no nicks, chips or scratches.
-Three sparkling OEC's are bead-set into an elegantly shaped foliate style setting above the central diamond. These stones measure approximately 2 mm in diameter, as well, for another estimated .10 carats of clean, fiery and bright old cut diamonds, that I would put in the H-I range of near-colorless.
-Six additional OEC's are bead-set into the milgrain edged geometric top/side border, with these diamonds each measuring approximately 1.8 to 2.2 mm in diameter. (another approximately .19 ctw) Also bright, fiery and eye-clean, I see a few small clear inclusions in a couple of these diamonds, though I see no damage to any stones. Pretty beadwork also decorates the border design, along with crisp milgrain.
-Neat zig-zag detail with beading and milgrain decorates both outer sides of the pendant, heading down towards the horizontal row of diamonds, each bead-set in their own little square settings with milgrain edging. These old European cuts measure approximately 2 mm in diameter (estimated at approximately .13 ctw) with color I would judge to be in the G-H-I range. Eye-clean and very fiery, they are in great original condition with no damage that I can see, and only a couple of tiny clear inclusions in a couple of diamonds, visible only with magnification. Finally, three more diamonds are set in elegantly stylized milgrain-edged settings at the very bottom of the piece.
-A substantially sized pendant, the piece measures approximately 23 mm at it's widest points and approximately 29 mm in length. (just under 1 inch in width and approximately 1 and 1/8 of an inch long) Open work decorates the sides of the piece so lots of light get into these fiery diamonds. Overall, it's in great vintage condition and I will have my bench jeweler tighten any bead-settings when we add the chain. Please specify what length of 14K white gold rope style chain you would like, and remember to factor in the width of the pendant, as the chain will be attached at the top back side of each side of the pendant. This will look much more elegant and seamless than adding a clunky bail at the top.
-Please allow 1-2 weeks for the work to be completed for you, before shipment. If you prefer your own jeweler to do the conversion please let me know and I will deduct $80.00 from the price.
- The cost includes insured priority shipping within the US. Please message me for info on shipping to other locations. Thank you!
