I bought this Blue Spinel from Jeff Davies a while back, and had the Pavillion tweaked (only because I don't care for step cuts). The color is AWESOME...a deep, but not overdark, violetish-blue. Like many Spinels, it does shift a bit more toward violet in incandescent, but this stone is great. It has almost ZERO grey, which is what I was drawn to. The cutting is great, the clarity is great, and this would make a fine substitute for a Sapphire.
I have been pairing down my collection, and this one may be the nicest one I let go.....
