Ceylon corundum usually doesn't contain enough chromium for the stones to to be called ruby, but this stone is a rare exception.

It was bought from a miner in Ratnapura for a pretty low price, so it's being sold low as well.

The stone has a few feathers and some soft silk under the loupe, but it is 100% eye clean in both daylight and grading lights.

Its colour shifts and changes slightly depending on the light. Because of the silk, it can appear silky and sleepy on overcast days. On sunny days it's bright even in the shade, and in yellow/incandescent light it's vivid brilliant red.
