These unusual earrings feature approximately a carat of rubies and a carat of sapphires, all bezel-set in rows of alternating color around a hollow core. They're strung with delicate gold chains that end in bezeled tassels, and although abstract, bear a slight resemblance (at least to my mind) to the design principles behind opulent Eastern lanterns. Not hallmarked, I initially thought they were high-carat gold (I have a matching butterfly in 20k), but despite the rich hue, they're a nice, sturdy 12K. These can be sold together as earrings separately for $85 apiece if you'd care to sport one on its lonesome as a pendant.
