Dating back to the turn of the 19th century, these beautiful high-end paste earrings sparkle like the diamonds they were intended to mimic ... and, in an improvement over their modern counterparts, their distinctive hand-cut faceting makes each stone unique and compelling. There's something charming about knowing that the exact same care was employed in the process of crafting these as in the composition of their more costly equivalents.
Equivalent in size to diamonds of one carat each, the gems are set in fluted 12 prong settings. They dangle from delicately twisted ear wires, and are angled to best flatter the face by presenting at the same angle as the wearer's eyes. I've posted shots in natural and artificial light to give the most complete picture. Gorgeous artifacts of a bygone age, these earrings are a beautiful piece of history.
