Victorian, Gilded Age era, and Art Deco jewelry have a highly collectible subset of jewelry of amazing hand-crafted quality on a par with the best houses of heirloom gems ... and still in reach of the Everywoman jewelry-lover of today: paste travel jewels.
These pieces were most typically crafted as painstaking imitations of pieces from the likes of Cartier, Tiffany, and Van Cleef and Arpels, allowing their wealthy owners to keep the originals safely in the vault while enjoying their beauty. Knoll Pregizer is one of the best known, but many pieces originating in Ida Oberstein and its environs met those same impeccable standards, utilizing a set of labor-intensive techniques that were all too sadly eradicated by Europe's social upheaval during that time.
This piece is a true collector's item, featuring a sinuous twisting sapphire vine that twists seamlessly around the wearer's wrist. It measures between 7 1/2" and 8" in length, and is approximately 2 1/4" wide. This is an amazing statement piece. As always, please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions!
