This Black Welo Opal is a killer. Vivid large patches of reds, greens, yellows, oranges, & blues in living vivid 3-D. If this was a Lighting Ridge Black Opal, you wouldn't want to know the price, but it's not. Affordable, beautiful, nice smooth cab with a high dome. No dead spots. This stone will make someone very happy!

Black Welo Opal is smoked with sugar to achieve the black body color. It is a old & permanent treatment that goes through the whole opal. Think of it as heating a brown Cambodian Zircon blue. There is no Blue Zircon that occurs naturally.
