One of our favorite styles of rings, this gorgeous vintage French 18K Yellow Gold Garland Wreath Engagement Ring is the epitome of romance.

At the center is a wonderfully unique 1.00-carat natural oval diamond. Shallow in profile like a portrait cut, yet featuring a distinctive open culet like a old mine cut, this diamond has tremendous visual presence. Its proportions allow it to face up dramatically larger than its actual carat weight would suggest—visually closer to a 1.55–1.65 carat diamond. The result is a lovely presence on the finger, beautifully enhanced by the handcrafted mounting.

The beautiful setting features a leafy garland border accented with charming floral details. The graceful, organic design follows the curvature of the finger and has an extremely low profile, making this ring exceptionally comfortable to wear.

The diamond's sparkle is romantic, soft, and ethereal. Rather than the loud and crisp, intense splinter type explosion of sparkle offered by a modern cut diamond, it displays quieter, gentle flashes of brilliant light with every movement of the hand. We are reminded of sunlight dancing across moving water. Graded I color and VVS2 clarity, the diamond is exceptionally clear and bright, with a beautiful crystalline appearance. The ring is beautifully crafted in 18K yellow gold and bears the French Owl assay mark on the exterior of the tri-wire band. The French Owl has been used as an official French assay mark for 18K gold since 1898, adding a wonderful piece of historical context to this already special ring.

The garland measures approximately 14.73 mm north to south and 13.65 mm east to west, giving the ring a substantial presence on the hand without feeling oversized.
