We are happy to present this beautifully designed one of a kind ring signed Tiffany that we are able to offer at an incredible price. Part of the Tiffany logo is faint from having been rubbed by a previously installed temporary metal ring sizing bar. We have confirmed through research of other verified period pieces that this is the font style that was used by Tiffany at least up until the mid 1920s. This vintage ring is in excellent condition for its age which we estimate to be around 1910. Halley's Comet of 1910 was a exceptional world wide event and heavily reported upon in newspapers of the time spawning a entire sub category of jewelry that was inspired by the comet and its extremely close passing to the Earth. The asymmetric trailing design reminds us of a comet and tail, and rich, buttery, yellow gold would have been widely in use prior to the introduction of white gold in 1912. What a romantic notion that your love was written in the cosmos and burns as bright as a shooting star. Our known provenance of the piece only goes as far back as the 1990s when it was purchased by the previous owners grandmother in an antique jewelry shop. We feel that at some point in its long and colorful past the center stone was replaced. While it is currently home to a beautiful Old European cut diamond which is clean, white, and clear to the eye, under magnification we see many white natural characteristics that would grade this diamond as a SI2-SI3, which is not what we would expect to see in a Tiffany ring. It is possible the original central stone was a sapphire or ruby which was severely damaged or broken over time and replaced with a diamond. Regardless of how it came to be, the central stone looks right at home in this stunning antique ring and is beautifully complimented by its well matched antique supporting diamonds. If so desired an antique diamond of exceptional quality could be sourced and placed in the mounting however since that is not how we found this lovely ring we leave that choice to the buyer.
