Huge & rare hot reddish orange (strong saturation) Spessartite in a bright medium dark tone that is just a hair away from being medium in tone. This stone will never be too dark.
Most stones will be overwhelmed & close up their color in direct sunlight. This stone is that rare stone that loves direct sunlight & is absolutely neon stunning in shaded sunlight.
The stone is very clean, better than eye clean which is another rarity in a Spessartite so large. Very crystalline. Though there are some who don’t like heart cuts. This one is not wonky at all & beautifully proportioned, no window, great faceting, & lots of brilliance that Spessartite Garnet is known for. Heart cuts when done right a very brilliant & this is one. Large face up 14.70 mm (L) x 15.91 mm (W) 25.4 mm = 1 inch.
It may not quite be Mandarin color, but it is a gem nevertheless & a Mandarin this size would cost you as much as a new car.
