I'm selling this absolutely stunning showstopper of a ring. I JUST had it completed by a jeweler and after wearing for a couple of days, realized it's not going to work with my other rings I wear.
The setting is a mid-century, NYC-designed and made ring that used to hold a pear-shaped jade. I loved the setting -- its basket-weave design, its height, comfort, proportions, and luster -- but wanted to change up the center stone.
I ordered a 1.15 carat, 12.6mm x 8mmx 2.6mm untreated, unheated Ethiopian Welo opal that was pretty translucent but became beautifully bright with a blue base when on black.
I brought both the ring and opal to an esteemed local jeweler with lots of experience with opals, and asked if he could put some jewelers cloth behind the opal to make the colors "pop" but he couldn't due to the setting's design. He suggested painting it black and I agreed -- the results speak for themselves in the pictures. It glows!
All the claws were replaced so the stone is tight as can be. This ring is gorgeous and in excellent condition. Just needs a new home!
Comes in velvet-y black ring box :-)
I've been stalking opal rings for a LONG time and can tell you this is an amazing ring for the price.
Please note that the sale is final as I'm a private seller
