Fantastic Welo Opal here that in bright light looks all most Harlequin pattern. Very black body color give the color that extra oomph that people look for in Black Opal. Bright in any light. Highly 3-D reds, oranges, yellows, blues, & greens, you can see this stone from a long ways. No dead spots. Nice high dome, no cracks, pits, or potch on the stone. Perfect for a ring!

Black Welo Opal is smoked with sugar to achieve the black body color. It is a old & permanent treatment that goes through the whole opal. Think of it as heating a brown Cambodian Zircon blue. There is no Blue Zircon that occurs naturally.
