My late Mother was the original owner, this was her wedding diamond, a gift from my Father, a Fine Jewelry Manufacturer in Los Angeles. My Father was one the early manufacturers in the history of the Los Angeles Jewelry District (circa 1950's - 60's). One of my Father's diamond suppliers was Harry Kotlar, this stone may have original come Harry Kotlar Co. I'm going to guess the stone was cut somewhere between late 1950's - early 1960's. My Mother got quite a few pieces of jewelry, being the wife of a fine jeweler. I don't know if this was her original engagement stone, or if that stone may have been upgraded to a larger stone after marriage. This is a stunningly beautiful diamond. How I priced this diamond: I created my imaging for comparison with Blue Nile & James Allen. These two sites represent the high quality at best value prices. If you study diamonds currently available on the market (video imaging) there is nothing as visually fine as this diamond with same grading criteria. You have to go up into the $14-$15K range to find stones of this visual quality. My price is based on the GIA report (which is subjective), inventory presently on the market, as well as current Rapaport Diamond Report price guide. It is entirely possible GIA has graded this diamond on the low side of each criteria. It could be borderline VS/VVS, borderline cut quality (G/VG), borderline color (D/E). If I don't sell this diamond beforehand, am considering sending it in for another report, and possibly raising the price accordingly. Video might be slightly off with regard to color correction, or your viewing device. Stone is colorless (E). Available again, original buyer traded in for a bigger version of the same =) Stunning and absolutely classic Antique diamond (old european cut) in a custom made, brushed rose gold bezel setting! This was a custom made piece and is in a beautiful soft, true rosey color of gold with delicate hand done milgrain detail surrounding the stone. The diamond itself is .45 carats and measures about 4.8 MM; in the bezel it measures 5.85MM. The chain is strung through so the pendant can move freely but the setting means there is no flipping. The diamond is very white facing but has lots of colored flashes, as is common with antique diamond with this cut. It glows against the rose gold setting. Conservative color estimate is H-I, SI Clarity (completely eye clean). This is a perfect piece for everyday wear that you never have to take off. Center stone is a true royal blue and is 2.54 Carats, measuring 8.5 x 7. The halo is made of 14 G-H color, VS2-SI1 modern round brilliant stones that are 5 points each, for a total weight of .70. This ring has a LOT of bling for the buck! For some reason all of the pics i upload to LT come out fuzzy when I have to resize, but the milgrain is incredibly crips as are all the stones- I can send more photos and videos along to anyone interested. The center stone is heat treated and has a very rich blue color, but does have some slight zoning. It does nothing at all to detract from the beauty. It is my favorite shade of blue for a sapphire- deep but totally translucent and with a definite sparkle. The ring is set in 14k YG and is currently a size 6 but fully sizable up or down. There is delicate milgrain both on the edge of the halo as well as around the center stone. I have TONS more photos and videos available, just ask.
