Up for sale is my antique diamond five stone ring.
- The setting is custom-made in unplated 18 kt white gold (carved wax and cast).
- The ring is currently a size 6 with a 3 mm shank.
- It is resizable within reason. I firmly believe this can be sized down by a competent bench to at least a 4.5, perhaps a 4.25.
- $2,800 including insured shipping, 5 day inspection period with full refund less any incurred PayPal fees and shipping charges.
I am selling this ring because I have acquired a different ring and don't wear this one as much as I should.
The diamonds consist of 4 OMC's and 1 OEC. The smallest stones measure at a little over 3 mm. The middle pair are about 4 mm and the center is about 5.1 x 5.3 mm. The total weight between the 5 stones is a hair under 2 carats. The center stone is 0.84 carats.
They were appraised loose prior to being sent off for the setting. They range in color from I to M so if you are very, very color sensitive and must have all stones matching in color this ring is probably not for you. One of the 3 mm stones and the center stone are lower grades (the M's) and the rest are in the near colorless range (I-H).
As for clarity, 3 of the stones are *not* eye clean. The center stone has a black deposit right underneath the table centered over the culet. Each of the 4 mm stones have a visible flaw but they are white in color and less noticeable. I only noticed after they were set when I studied them extremely closely. Before that I was so dazzled by the performance and faceting that I did not notice the flaws.
The diamonds perform as nice old cuts will- with lots of fire. I absolutely LOVE this ring in bright sun. It simply glows in indorect outdoor lighting. The center stone will turn a delicious golden yellow.
The pictures attached-
You can see the black carbon spot in the photo of the straight-on view of the stones set in the ring. It is right over the culet.
The center stone and the rest of the ring can glow in indirect daylight. The Aurora semi-eternity also on my finger is NOT for sale but is a good comparison of the performance of old cuts vs ideal cut modern RBs in this kind of lighting.
I ADORE the trellis style and had been wanting a trellis old cut 5 stone ever since Neatfreak had hers made by BGD. This view also depicts the delicious tiny tables and high crowns of a couple of the stones.
I have updated the photos with the ring in two kinds of lighting- fluorescent and incandescent. It demonstrates that the color differences in most lighting is not too in-your-face. I think these photos are true-to-life.
Here is the thread on PS about the ring.
