This beautiful engagement ring is a true shop favorite, cherished for its graceful proportions and beautiful floral design. Recently returned from certification and expert restoration, it is now ready to be loved for another lifetime.
At the heart of the ring rests a completely eye-clean Old European Cut diamond, sparkling with the soft, romantic light that only an antique cut can offer. The diamond’s character-rich faceting creates large flashes of brilliance, while its medium culet and small table speak to the artistry of a bygone era. Though graded I1, the only clarity feature is a delicate edge feather so well concealed within the faceting that it took magnification and a jeweler’s loupe to locate—the stone is both beautifully clean and bright to the naked eye. The diamond is framed by an exquisite floral setting crafted by the renowned Belais workshop, celebrated for its refined metalwork and pioneering use of white gold. Two custom-cut triangular blue sapphires accent the design, adding a subtle yet striking touch of color that enhances the ring’s romantic presence without overwhelming its delicate balance. Elegant, feminine, and rich with history, this ring is a timeless expression of love—thoughtfully restored, beautifully preserved, and ready to begin its next chapter. Historical Note
Belais Manufacturing Co., founded by David Belais, was a pioneering American jewelry firm and among the earliest producers of white gold jewelry in the United States. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Belais experimented extensively with white gold alloys as an alternative to platinum, since platinum was restricted due to wartime demands during WW1. In 1917, David Belais introduced his final white gold formula to the trade, and a patent was granted in 1920. The resulting 18-karat alloy—composed of gold, zinc, and nickel—proved both durable and practical, quickly earning widespread acclaim. Belais’ marketing success was so significant that the name “Belais” became nearly synonymous with white gold, reinforced by the company’s well-known slogan, “Belais Made Means Well Made.” Beyond jewelry, David Belais was also the founder of the Humane Society of New York in 1904 and a lifelong advocate for animal welfare, serving as its president until his death.
