A rare original Art Deco engagement ring and wedding band, together for approximately 100 years.
The majority of antique engagement rings have long since been separated from their original wedding bands, making an intact matched set such as this an uncommon find. The two rings are joined at the back by a small section of metal and retain their original pairing.
The engagement ring is centered by an approximately 0.50 carat diamond, surrounded by four larger accent diamonds positioned at the cardinal points and 26 smaller single-cut diamonds. The combination of fine piercework, milgrain, and hand engraving creates a substantial yet refined geometric arrangement characteristic of the Art Deco period, with 1.60 carats of diamonds in total.
The rings are crafted in 900 platinum, marked 10% Iridium PL. They have an impressive presence on the hand while retaining the crisp geometry and lively diamond arrangement of the period. The set is currently a size 4.25 and can be sized to approximately 7.25. Because the bands are presently joined, they would need to be separated for sizing and can be rejoined afterward if desired.
