The Old European Cut Diamond was chosen specifically to compliment this Vintage 18k yellow and white gold setting. Its beautifully detailed mounting previously held a white gemstone which had sustained wear over time. The white stone was meant to mimic the look of a diamond and we are happy to now have the technology that would have no doubt thrilled the original owner. The new 2.35 carat G VS1 Laboratory Grown Genuine Diamond is laser inscribed and will be accompanied with its IGI certificate. This Old European Cut Diamond is a specialty cut based off of antique diamonds from the 1890-1930s. They were a transition from the older more irregular Old Mine Cut Diamonds which was more cushion shaped to the modern round brilliant shape of current diamonds. They feature a open culet which looks like a small circle that reflects within the diamond, a taller crown, and smaller table. Combined, these attributes result in a larger rainbow type of flash and the diamond reflects all the colors of its surroundings beautifully. We are huge fans of the Old European Cut (it is our personal favorite but don't tell the other diamonds!) In addition to selling vintage jewelry we are custom jewelers.
