Remember a bygone era, when women's skirts swept the ground and feathers nodded from their hats. Men wore waistcoats and, of course, a watch chain made out of solid gold if they could afford it.
This antique double Albert watch chain is hallmarked for 1896 and is rare for it's length. At 22 inches end-to-end, it must have belonged to a fairly tall gentleman. These days, of course, these watch chains are mostly wore as chains by women who appreciate these special pieces.
This particular watch chain weighs in at 43g of solid, 9k gold and measures 22 inches long, making it long and eminently wearable. Don't buy a reproduction when you can buy a piece of solid gold with over 100 years of history in every link.
This particular chain was chosen by a man who did not like to skimp. Each of the longer links is a double link to add a smooth, lustrous heft to it and they are connected by a trio of chubby round links. A t-bar hangs from the middle and at one end is a smoothly working clasp.
Hallmarked: Chain 9k, 375 Date Letter W (1896), Crown, Birmingham Anchor, maker’s mark just indistinguishable.
Be sure to compare gold weight when buying your antique watch chain - this is a wonderful deal!
