This tsav is still available (as of 5/31/14) as the pending sale fell through!
I've decided to offer up this lovely tsavorite... I'm saving up for a project and while I really love this gem, I think I can let it go if someone wants it.
I bought this from a well known PS boardie. If I remember correctly, she told me at the time that this is the type of tsavorite rough that *was* selling for $600-700 per carat (and higher!) before the recent price jumps - I'm really not sure his high it is now. Pricing has continued to rise and rise on these, this one is definitely priced at what they were going for a couple of years ago, at least.
This tsav is the desirable darker material. It's a gorgeous dark green with flashes of bright green coming off the gem. It is not precision cut, but it's not at all badly cut. It's approx 5.1 mm cushion. It is .84 cts. It also has that beautiful blue modifier that is so desirable in a tsav - you can really see it in incandescent lighting. This gem has never been set. It is not completely clean but it is mostly eye clean; there's nothing too distracting. I can really only see one eye visible inclusion, but it blends in pretty well.
Please note that this IS what I would consider darker tsav material; I can send more pics or try to answer questions about the color if requested. I think it's closest to "medium dark/dark" tsavorite. It's very beautiful, especially if you like the darker material, but it does show some extinction, especially when viewed in lighting that isn't bright enough.
Please note*** There is a reason that this tsav is priced at $225 instead of $600-900 as many tsavs are that are cut from this type of material. It does show areas of extinction, which I suspect is due to the cut not being precision. I think a $75ish recut from Jerry at gemart could improve the extinction, but I haven't discussed this with him yet. This type of material, when cut to perfection, usually runs at minimum $600 per carat.
Asking $225 shipped in the US. I'm pretty firm on the price as this is less than I paid (I paid $250 in the secondhand market - which means it had already been discounted from retail pricing!) and I'd like to get close to what I had in it - and I think it's worth it :). I've seen similar gems with much higher price tags...
I apologize for the pics - I find tsavs VERY hard to photograph accurately! This one is dark, but with bright green sparkle that the pics don't capture very well. The green itself is very nice with that great blue secondary that makes it pop, especially in certain lighting. The third pic was taken by the previous owner, not by me, so credit goes to her! This one shows the cutting pretty well though, which is why I included it. The fourth pic shows the tsav next to some of my other gems, which are not for sale/not included. Last pic shows tsav In indoor lighting.
Shipping included in price, within US only.
