Sold, thanks :)
Last reduction; I'll leave it up at this price for awhile, and if it doesn't sell, take it down again.
Pear spinel
Now $299. Final reduction, was $475; this is the lowest that I've ever seen this material priced at per carat (among comparable gems). Taking a large loss on it and I purchased it here on LT, where it was already hugely discounted from retail pricing. Firm at this price. I've had at least a dozen inquiries about the gem in the past, but never quite got it sold - hoping it will work out for someone now :)
Vietnamese pear spinel
Please contact me at
rather than using LT's system - I hardly ever actually receive messages sent through LT!
Up for grabs:
Untreated, rare Vietnamese violet/lavender bluish spinel pear originally, from Brad at TGT
- desirable and sought after rare spinel, delicate bluish violet color with little to no gray. I can REALLY see the lack of gray when I compare it to my Tanzanian and Ceylon spinels. This is why these are so special!
- 8.4x4.6 mm, faces up nicely closer to 1 carat size
- 0.85 cts
- never set
- originally sold by Brad at TGT, but I purchased it from LT (a PSer). Asking less than what I paid, and it was already discounted for the secondhand market. I rarely but occasionally see similar gems - they are always around $1000 for similar sizes/material. I recently got and set the Vietnamese spinel of my dreams so I just don't truly "need" this one now (finally found a well cut round after years of searching!)
- it does have a slight window which is common in this type of cut - however, it should at least mostly close upon setting. When I look at it on the hand I can see much less of the window. This material is so difficult to find and usually so expensive, that to my mind a slight window is a trade off that one may be willing to make.
It is the only pear in the pics; other gems are shown for comparison purposes only. It is placed next to a cushion cut Tanzanian spinel in order to show how the delicate color pops, plus the lack of gray. Last pic shows it's bluer side. Pics are taken in both natural and indoor lighting (pic 4 is indoor).
I ship within the US only (due to insurance issues with int'l shipping). PayPal only please. I'm katharath on PS, and I've had many successful transactions here, selling from my personal collection as my preferences change. Please ask all questions before buying - as I'm not a trade person, and I almost always discount my pre loved items rather a lot, the understanding is that sales will be final. I am happy to provide any further info that I can, upon request.
