One of my sources has been hoarding old Nigerian Rubellite rough from the late 1990’s. Nigerian Rubellite was noted for its intense red color, clarity, & totally untreated other than cut & polish. This is a fine example of that long past find.

Rubellite like Emerald is a GIA type 3 gemstone, which means normally included. This Rubellite is eye clean being held in hand as it would appear mounted in a rich medium dark tone that is closer to medium tone than dark tone. Strongly saturated purplish red color. Under LED light it goes to a hot fuchsia pink.

Like Emerald, Rubellite is appreciated & cut for color, not sparkle. This stone looks like a hard candy that you’d pop in your mouth. A gem.
Will fit in a 12 mm x 12 mm mount.
