Video & pictures taken under LED & fluorescent light
This was originally a 3.07 ct Spinel with a moderate window. It was moderately shallow cut & faced up bigger than its carat weight. I sent it to Dan Stair for a pavilion recut to close the window & he did a superb job! The stone now has brilliance & dispersion to spare, yet it keeps its 3 plus carat face up size.
Spinel rarely comes in this intense of color when it comes to blues & violets. This stone could be mistaken for a Tanzanite, with its color shift. A light medium dark tone, with an intense violet color under LED & fluorescent light, & a violetish blue, under sunlight. Looks good in direct sunlight. Becomes more vivid under LED & fluorescent, especially commercial light where it become this electric violet/purple.
Will fit in a 9 mm round mount.
Rare Spinel, for those who can appreciate it.
