Very nice color blue in this Spinel. Not unlike Sapphire. Many blue Spinel are a lighter or darker in tone. This stone has a nice medium tone. There is a bit of violet in the stone which can be seen under fluorescent, but all in all it holds it color pretty well. Lots of brilliance & sparkle! Really, quite a gemmy Spinel.

I'd ask another $100.00 for the stone but it has a couple of nicks on the girdle. One going ever so slightly on the crown. You can not see these nicks with the unaided eye, but you can feel one with your finger nail running along the girdle. Once set, it will be as if it was never there. The stone is slightly included. Just one pin prick can be seen on the crown in bright light, but only at a angle, otherwise it disappears, & may disappear when set. The oval shape could be better, but is really not noticeable in person. All in all for the price this is a great deal, & a much cheaper alternative to Sapphire!
