Stunning solid and heavy Danish 14K bangle bracelet Midcentury Scandi (Scandinavian) style and quality
Completely solid through and through, not hollow, weighing a very substantial ~36 grams!
Expertly crafted, the sculptural gold bracelet catches the eye as it shifts dynamically on the arm due to the clever elongated design and subtle distribution of weight in the heavy solid gold bangle. A collectible heirloom signed piece.
Designed by Bent Gabrielsen and crafted by Hans Hansen Silversmithy, Kolding, Denmark, in the 1960s
Bent Gabrielsen (1928-2014) qualified as a goldsmith in 1949 after serving his apprenticeship with the goldsmith Ejler Fangel in Copenhagen. He was immediately hired by the Hans Hansen Solvsmedie and worked there until 1969. By the time he left he was responsible for the firm's entire production, and he won the Lunning Prize in 1964.
Not surprisingly, many of the highly valued Hans Hansen pieces are made of 14 karat gold. These can easily sell in the thousands, whether they're bracelets, necklaces, or kinetic ring designs.
Hallmarked / signed: Denmark, 585 (for 14K gold), Hans Hansen
approximate inside circumference: 19 cm / 7.48 inches
Note that this is a vintage piece of jewelry ~60 years old! It has been very well cared for but shows normal signs of use, with a “patina” of light scratches on the metal that many collectors of old gold actually appreciate for its unparalleled glow. Glowing rosy gold tone is similar to Sweden / Swedish 18K.
