Rhodonite is rarely found with enough clarity for faceting, which makes this very clean example particularly rare. The color is a bright strawberry red, very pure, and unusual among red stones. The red has a bit of neon glow to it as well. Some might mistake it for a super bright ruby, but it's actually brighter than ruby, and doesn't black out like corundum tends to do. Hardness is 5.5-6.5, making it a good stone for pendants or a lightly used ring. Last photo shows rose cut pavilion of the stone, it could be set either face up or face down.
This pear shaped Rhodonite from Brazil measures about 9.5 x 6.8mm, and weighs 1.58cts. Reduced to $195!
