Description

Burmese natural untreated spinel from Mogok. Humongous at 10.6 cts, old stock. New stock in such sizes virtually unheard of from the Mogok mines anymore.

Length measures 15.5mm, breadth 12.3 mm, depth 7.8mm according to my digital calipers.

This is a very dark red with sone brown/orange secondary colour but mostly very dark red. Can appear black but with red flashes under some lights.
Good crystal quality and at first glance eye clean. The corners at the girdle have very small knicks that would be covered by prongs when set. Cutter probably left them to maximise weight and cut them out from host rock or to rid inclusions. Tiny bubble inclusions. Never been set. A local kab memo will be made, with one of the 2 leading labs.

Suitable for those that go for the unusual, large sizes and prefer darker stones.
