A truly grey spinel, for once. Whittled down from a 6.12 carat piece of rough into a very good looking barion oval.
Variety: Grey spinel
Weight: 1.79 ct.
Color: Grey-grey, not purplish grey. Just finally grey.
Shape & cut: Oval, oval barion cut
Dimensions: 8.95 x 6.40 x 4.77 mm
Clarity: Loupe clean
Certificate: None yet, but I checked the stone and it's a natural spinel. A cert can easily be made though.
The stone is an exceptionally pleasant grey, exceptionally well cut, clean and brilliant; it has excellent dispersion owing to it's unusually clean body and as a result shows fire in addition to its already high brilliance.
A barion oval was chosen instead of a conventional oval which would have yielded about 0.60-0.80 ct. more; I think the end result was very much worth it though.
The shade of grey would best be described as silver/storm cloud/mercury. And yes - it stays grey in all lights, even incandescent (yellow) light. It's as grey as any spinel will ever get.
Tracked and insured shipping is included.
